Job Summary
The Compensation Officer serves as the technical expert in market pricing, salary architecture, and performance data modeling. As an individual contributor, you will own the “data engine” that drives the company’s reward strategy.
You will act as a consultant to HR Business Partners and as a key gatekeeper for financial decisions—providing evidence-based analysis and approvals for high-impact compensation actions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Market Intelligence & Benchmarking
- Act as the primary contact for salary survey providers; ensure data accuracy and extract insights
- Perform job matching for complex, niche, and newly created roles
- Conduct market alignment analysis and recommend competitive salary strategies
- Provide market pricing for job offers, promotions, and salary adjustments
- Support Operations by delivering compensation insights for client staff
2. Salary Structure & Governance
- Build and maintain salary grades, bands, and ranges
- Perform compensation modeling aligned with market and economic changes
- Manage and update the Corporate Approval Matrix
- Maintain geographic pay policies across regions, ensuring compliance with labor laws, wage standards, and statutory requirements
3. Incentive Management & Performance Integration
- Manage the full lifecycle of Short-Term Incentives (STI), including payouts and reporting
- Develop tools such as calculators, merit matrices, and performance-to-pay models
- Support performance cycles and enforce timelines with HRBPs
- Lead annual merit increase processes, including analysis, consolidation, and execution
4. Recruitment Governance & Control
- Review and approve headcount requests based on staffing ratios and budget availability
- Serve as the approval authority for job offers and employment contracts
- Ensure offers align with salary structures, internal equity, and approval frameworks
- Facilitate escalations and approvals for exceptions
5. Compliance & Technical Consultation
- Prepare compensation-related reports to ensure compliance with labor regulations
- Act as the subject matter expert for compensation policies, offer structuring, and retention strategies
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in compensation analysis, preferably in a fast-paced or BPO environment
- Advanced Excel / Google Sheets: Strong capability in data modeling, complex formulas (e.g., VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, nested IF), and Pivot Tables
- System Proficiency: Experience with HRIS tools (e.g., Workday, Oracle, SAP) and market pricing platforms (e.g., Mercer, Willis Towers Watson, Payscale)
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze large datasets and translate them into actionable insights
- Communication Skills: Able to clearly explain compensation decisions and rationale to stakeholders
