Your Role:

The primary purpose of this role is to support our client’s cyber security operations while also assisting with general IT support tickets and assigned projects tasks. This includes helping maintain the security, stability, and integrity of our IT systems across on premise, remote-sites and cloud environments, and providing high quality technical support to team members.

  • Respond and action tickets logged through our service management tool Jira and keep within our SLA’s.
  • Monitor, triage, and escalate security alerts from tools such as endpoint protection, SIEM, and email security platforms.
  • Assist in basic incident response activities, including initial investigation, evidence gathering, and applying containment steps under guidance.
  • Support the implementation and enforcement of security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Conduct Level 1 security checks, such as account anomalies, MFA issues, access reviews, and device compliance.
  • Assist in vulnerability management tasks, including scanning, tracking, and verifying remediation.
  • Help maintain and monitor security controls across cloud services (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure AD).
  • Support awareness of cyber best practices through user assistance and reinforcement of security expectations.
  • Participate in routine security maintenance activities such as patching coordination, privileged access reviews, and threat‑related follow‑ups.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of security-related incidents, controls, and processes.
  • Provide support for our Retail Point Of Sale (POS) systems and it’s peripherals.
  • Maintain relationships and work with external vendor partners to ensure services remain stable.
  • Technical Documentation writing.
  • Participation in business-driven projects and initiatives.
  • Communicate frequently with respect to team members, customers and vendor partners.
  • Must be able to work after hours when required to minimise impact during business hours.
  • Work on-premises with your colleagues

What You Need:

Non-negotiables

  • At least 3 years of IT work experience in a similar hybrid role (IT Security Support or IT Helpdesk Analyst).
  • Must be able to work on-premise; this is strictly not a work-from-home (WFH) position.
  • Strong ability to diagnose and prioritize technical issues, especially for Windows desktop operating systems.
  • Cybersecurity Fundamentals: A solid understanding of cyber hygiene, experience managing identity and access via Active Directory (AD) and Azure AD, focusing on MFA enforcement and the principle of least privilege (PoLP)
  • Endpoint & Email Security: Hands-on experience with endpoint protection/antivirus/EDR tools (such as Sophos Central) including deployment, monitoring, and responding to threat-related logs.
  • Network Security Basics: Solid understanding of Network Switch administration and configuration (VLANs, port security) to maintain stable and secure local infrastructure
  • Experience supporting remote users using tools such as TeamViewer, RDP, VNC, or SplashTop.
  • Familiarity with using ticketing systems like Jira to manage and action support requests within SLAs.
  • Must be available to work after hours when necessary to minimize business impact during project implementations or maintenance.

Preferred skills/expertise

  • Relevant industry certifications such as Sophos Certified Engineer, CCNA, or CompTIA Security+
  • Firewall Management: Knowledge of Sophos Firewall configuration, including creating firewall rules, managing VPN access, and optimizing bandwidth based on web-filtering reports.
  • Prior experience providing support for Retail Point of Sale (POS) systems and peripherals is highly valued.
  • Exposure to business applications like Microsoft Navision or Dynamics.
  • Deeper knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration fundamentals beyond basic tasks.
  • Experience working within virtual computing environments.
